70 years ago, on 6th August (1945), was the first used nuclear weapons by the United States. On 6th August was bombed Hiroshima, than on 9th August bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. The two bombings killed at least 129,000 people and destroyed buildings and burned all trees. About 200 thousand people exposed to radioactive irradiation. On 6 August 1955 there was first international conference for the prohibition of atomic and hydrogen weapons in Hiroshima.
Hiroshima become a symbol of the fight against weapons of mass destruction. Hiroshima Day iscelebrated internationally as the World Day for the prohibition of nuclear weapons. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are a constant reminder of the terrible tragedy.
